Class Descriptions:
gentle yoga: This class is a safe and gentle path to reducing stress, increasing vitality and deepening relaxation. Perfect for beginners or those with injuries or limited mobility. We will be using chairs, straps, and blocks to support our postures. Yoga postures and breathing exercises improve mobility, circulation, strength and digestive health.
intermediate/continuing: For students with some experience with yoga. We will explore a balanced and varied practice of both Yin and Yang Yoga. The combination of active and passive asanas are designed to develop and maintain a strong and supple body, affecting the muscles, joints and fascia. "Yin yoga is a meditative physical practice that stimulates the balancing of the energetic pathways (meridians) through holding floor poses while Yang Yoga involves a slow alignment based movement practice." (Sarah Powers)
occupy yourself: This is a free co-created morning on the last Friday of each month. Donations toward heating costs are appreciated. Please bring a small snack to share.
pilates: This hour long class is with Certified Pilates Instructor Anjelee French. She can be contacted at 519-763-2464.
private yoga: These two-hour, one to one sessions are helpful for updating your home practice, addressing specific ailments or health concerns or beginning students that are unsure if they are ready to join a class. These sessions are available at our fully equipped Riversound Retreat studio on the scenic Grand River or at your home. I am also able to record our session as an mp3 so that you can play it at home on your stereo, computer or ipod.
restorative yoga: This class utilizes lots of props (bolsters, blankets, blocks, chairs) to support the body in postures that are held for up to 10 minutes. The typical Fight or Flight stress reponse is countered with the Rest and Relaxation response.
mindful eating, mindful yoga: We will be supporting each other in a Yoga Cleanse diet. On January 12th we will practice yoga and meditation and discuss the Cleanse. We meet again on January 19th to practice together and share our experience. Please contact Jill beforehand to receive the Cleanse information.
yoga fundamentals: This course is designed for beginners and more experienced students who wish to explore their mind/body dialogue. Through a nurturing, playful and meditative style, you will improve you awareness, balance, strength and flexibility. Relaxation and breathing techniques will leave you feeling relaxed and renewed.
yoga and meditation: Gentle yoga asana (postures) to relax, open and strenghten the body with balancing pranayama (breathing) supports short periods of meditation. Supported by guidance, readings and time for questions.
